Flicker ("we", "our", "the app") is a private mobile application for two people — couples, best friends, or close connections — who want to grow closer through daily shared experiences. We are committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who uses Flicker.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have about your data. By creating an account and using Flicker, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you create an account and use Flicker, you provide:

• Email address (used for authentication)
• Display name (visible to your paired partner only)
• Profile photo (optional; visible to your partner only)
• Daily prompt answers (private until both partners submit)
• Daily selfie photos (private until both partners upload)
• Diary entries (shared or private, as you choose)
• Memory jar notes, photos, and appreciation messages
• Chat messages sent to your partner
• Daily mood check-ins and milestone dates

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token — used to send push notifications
• App crash logs and error reports — used to fix bugs (no personal content included)
• Timestamps of activity — stored in Firestore

2.3 What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your contacts or address book
• We do not track your location
• We do not collect browsing history or cross-app activity
• We do not show ads and do not collect advertising identifiers

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Create and manage your account
• Pair you with your partner using your unique invite code
• Deliver daily prompts, selfie reveals, and diary entries between paired users
• Send push notifications (e.g. "Your partner has answered")
• Store your memories, chat messages, and diary entries securely
• Calculate streaks and selfie points within the app
• Improve app stability using anonymous crash data

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing profiling, or any purpose beyond making Flicker work for you.

4. Who Can See Your Data

4.1 Your Paired Partner

The following is visible to your paired partner once the relevant conditions are met:

• Your display name and profile photo
• Your daily prompt answer — only after both of you have submitted
• Your daily selfie — only after both of you have uploaded
• Diary entries you mark as "Shared"
• Memory jar notes and photos you add
• Chat messages you send
• Your daily mood emoji and word

4.2 Content Only You Can See

• Diary entries you mark as "Private" — never visible to your partner
• Your account email address

4.3 Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third-party advertisers or data brokers. We use Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Storage, Cloud Messaging) for data storage, login, and notifications. These services process data solely to operate the app.

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored in Google Firebase, hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase provides industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your data is restricted using Firestore Security Rules — only you and your paired partner can read your shared content.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Firebase backup snapshots may retain data for up to 35 days before being purged automatically.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information via your profile settings
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time
• Withdraw from your pair without deleting your account
• Request a copy of your data by emailing us

8. Children's Privacy

Flicker is intended for users aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email.
